「そんなの、クリーンエネルギーの技術シェアに決まってるよ！！」
といきなり言い切って。Why?ときいたら
「発展途上国が先進国と同じようにエネルギーを使ったら一気に地球は滅亡するからさ！！」
とのたまいました。
え、そうなの！？どういうこと？経済開発の為の援助をすることが彼らの貧困をやわらげるいい方法なんじゃないの！？んん？？
という根本的なところから。
勝手な話ながら、先進国のエネルギーの使い方を、発展途上国が真似をしたら、一気に地球の状態は悪くなるってことなんやね。
だから、クリーンなエネルギーの技術をシェアして、そのエネルギーを使って発展していただくことが地球を守るうえで必須なんだって。
夫は、一応そういう関係の技術者なので、返答が早くて羨ましかった～
英検１級、英語力はもとより、やっぱり何かで通して、世界が見えていることがすごく強いな～。日本語でこれがバッサリ言えないと、英語以前の問題だもんね。
【英検１級お題に挑戦！】
Does technology have a positive effect on environmental conservation?
Some people would point out that technology does not always have a positive effect on environmental conservation, but I think it can and should do so in the future. I have some points to make.
The first point is that technology can contribute to solving the problem of deforestation. Today many people use e-mails or digital data, instead of sending letters or fax, without printing papers. A decline in the paper's use will make it easier to save the world's rain forests.
The second point is that technology can play an important role to developing renewable sources of energy. Solar power and wind power are being developed quickly today, and they are already helping to reduce the need to use fossil fuels. These forms of energy are impossible without better technology.
In conclusion, owing to its positive effects on saving papers, and advancing renewable energy, I strongly believe that it is safe to say that technology has a lot of benefits to conserve the environment. And we should use it so that we can make a better world.

What can be done to make people more environmentally conscious?
人々の環境に対する意識を向上させるために何ができるでしょうか。
Since there are a lot of serious environmental issues today, people know that we should do something about the environment. I think there are two key ways to increasing consciousness.
First, we should increase awareness through education. The government, scientists, environmental groups, and the media all play important roles in educating people about the issues we face. The more aware we are, the more likely we are to do something to protect the environment.
Second, the government should impose a strict regulation on harming the environment. Reward can be given to people who take practical steps to protect nature, on the other side, punishments can be done for polluter,litterbugs, and others that violate the environment.
In conclusion, we all share planet Earth, so it is essential that we all become more environmentally conscious so that we can realize a safer, and more sustainable world.

日本では子どもたちの間ではやや「女性差別」がピンときにくいかなと思ったので、下に参考でシェアしているＨＰから、現状をピックアップしてみました。
実際に世界の女性の3人に1人は、暴力被害にあっています。2012年に殺害された女性の2人に1人は、パートナーや家族によって殺されたといったデータもあるほどです。
一方で、助けを求められる女性は多くありません。恐怖心や不安が重なり、声に出せない女性もいます。暴力を受けた女性のうち、救いを求められた女性は40%未満なのです。
発展途上国では女性を「労働力」として位置付ける国もあります。実際に「水汲み問題」は大きなニュースとなりました。最高気温が50度を超えるなか、女の子たちだけが毎日水を汲むのです。
労働だけに時間をとられ、十分な教育が受けられない女の子も少なくありません。結果的に大人になった際に、しっかりとした仕事に就けず収入に頭を悩ますことになるのです。
女の子でしっかりした教育を受けさせてもらったり、大学行かせてもらえることが、世界では当然じゃないところがたくさんあるんですね。
先進国の中では日本のジェンダー評価はすごく低いらしく、そのあたりは、家事育児が当然女性に大きい配分になっていたり、会社での昇進等に女性であることが影響したりすることが大きな理由のようです。

Should Japan make more efforts to achieve gender equality?
日本は男女平等実現にもっと努力するべきか
I think Japan should make more efforts to achieve gender equality for the following reasons.
First, according to the latest report on gender equality, Japan still falls behind other developed countries in female empowerment. I think this is because of a stereotyped idea for gender roles, so we should make more efforts to encourage awareness of gender equality.
Second, in today's Japan, females still have less opportunities in business world. I have heard of that there is a Glass Ceiling to women's promotions in Japanese companies. I think the government should do more active efforts so that we can tackle with the serious labor shortage and declining the birth-rate.
Third, few male workers in Japan takes paternity leave, on the other hand, about 80% of women take maternity leave. It demonstrates that married couples heavily depend on women for child-raising.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that Japan should make much more efforts to accomplish gender equality.

Should the university system in Japan be reformed?
日本の大学は改革されるべきか。
With a dramatic increase in the number of universities over the last decade in Japan, I think the university system in Japan should be reformed for the fllowing reasons.
First, I would like to say about English education, since I am an English teacher as I said, I'm afraid that most of it in Japan is not effective enough to develop students' English abilities. In today's global society, a good command of English is considered essential for success, however, most of the programs are not intensive or practical enough to develop students' abilities in listening, speaking, reading, and writing effectively.
Second, the Japanese university education system based mainly on lectures and knowledge acquisition cannnot develop students' critical thinking ability. In order to develop it, Japanese university need to promote more active learning, such as debating, discussions, presentations, or some drama education.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that Japanese university system should be improved so that they can advance their vital abilities for the future.

Do the benefits of euthanasia outweigh the disadvantaged?
安楽死の利点はマイナス点を上回るか
Mercy-killing is one of the most controversial issues in the world. Although some people point out serious problems with euthanasia, I think that the benefits of euthanasia outweigh the disadvantages for the following reasons.
First, euthanasia can eliminate terrible pain of incurable diseases. In that case, prolonging their life would mean prolonging their suffering. I think they have the right to die with human dignity by doctor-assisted euthanasia. It is inhumane not to respect how they want to die.
Second, mercy-killing reduces a financial burden on patients, their family members and the government. Of course, such costs should be paid if there's a hope of recovery, however, if I were in a vegetative state under a much expensive life-support system, I really hope to disconnect it and make my family be free from the burden from my heart.
For these reasons, although we need careful judgement for performing euthanasia or not, I strongly believe that the benefits of euthanasia outweigh the disadvantages.

食糧不足は、将来解消するか
最近はこんな素直な感じでは出ないという噂もありますが(笑)、でも基本をおさえておくことで、英文のリサイクルが可能になるかなと。
I know the world hunger is one of the biggest threats to humankind and hard to be solved, however, I believe that food shortage will be eliminated in the future for the following reasons.
First, since technology and engineering have dramatically advanced today, we can tackle with hunger problems by using them. For example, biotechnology and genetic engineering play important roles to develop sustainable food systems. Furthermore, recycling wasted food is effective, since a third of the world food is wasted in fact.
Sharing high technology can contribute to promoting economic growth inclusively, not exclusively, so that we can eradicate food shortage.
Secondly, developed countries have a huge resposibility to compensate for their exploitation of people and natural resources of the Third World. Since it is one of the reasons of hunger today, developed countries must help them overcome hunger.
In conclusion, though it is including my hope, I strongly believe that food shortage will be eliminated in the future.

だいぶリサイクルを使ったところもあるけど、実際の会話では自分の得意表現にもっていくことで心が入って語れるかなあと思う。やっぱりインタラクティブな会話となると心が入ったスピーチにしないと私にはできなさそう。

【SDGsを英語で学ぶ】Goal１ No Poverty 貧困をなくそう
すっごくいいことを思いつきました。
これからSDGsについて簡単な英語と日本語でとりあげていきたいと思います。
理由は、一言でいうとこれから私たちがグローバル視点で考えていく為のキーワードの宝庫だからです。
私は１級二次の対策になるし、生徒ちゃんにはディベートのネタになるし、英作文や英語面接、思考力、知識・教養、すべてにおいて何粒もおいしすぎるのでやるべしと思いました。
SDGsとは「Sustainable Development Goals（持続可能な開発目標）」の略称です。そ
SDGsは2015年9月の国連サミットで採択されたもので、国連加盟193か国が2016年から2030年の15年間で達成するために掲げた目標です。
17の大きな目標と、それらを達成するための具体的な169のターゲットで構成されています。
こういうきれいなポスターを目にされた方も多いかと思います。

Should the developed world help developing countries overcome poverty?
先進国は、発展途上国が貧困を克服することを、援助すべきか。
Of course yes, over 700 million people, 10 percent of the world population, are living in extreme poverty today. As you know, United Nations aims to end world poverty by 2030 through the Sustainable Development Goals. I think the developed countries should help developing countries overcome poverty for the following reasons.
First, developed countries have a responsibility to compensate for their exploitation of people and natural resources of the Third World. Since it is one of the reasons the Third World is in state of poverty today, developed countries must help them overcome poverty.
Secondly, developed countries' economic aid to third world countries will promote global peace and stability. Since poverty is one of the root causes of serious problems, such as conflicts and terrorism, it will lead us to a safer and more stable world.
In conclusion, I strongly believe that developed nations should help developing countries overcome poverty.
