【1級2次お題】今回のＳＧＤｓとは論点がずれていますが、現状の日本の医療関係ネタとしてこちらを。ちゃんと安楽死について英文化したことなかったのでトライしてみます。(あちこちの解答例から自分が言えそうな形に切り貼りしているものです）
Do the benefits of euthanasia outweigh the disadvantaged?
安楽死の利点はマイナス点を上回るか
Mercy-killing is one of the most controversial issues in the world. Although some people point out serious problems with euthanasia, I think that the benefits of euthanasia outweigh the disadvantages for the following reasons.
First, euthanasia can eliminate terrible pain of incurable diseases. In that case, prolonging their life would mean prolonging their suffering. I think they have the right to die with human dignity by doctor-assisted euthanasia. It is inhumane not to respect how they want to die.
Second, mercy-killing reduces a financial burden on patients, their family members and the government. Of course, such costs should be paid if there's a hope of recovery, however, if I were in a vegetative state under a much expensive life-support system, I really hope to disconnect it and make my family be free from the burden from my heart.
For these reasons, although we need careful judgement for performing euthanasia or not, I strongly believe that the benefits of euthanasia outweigh the disadvantages.
